This amazing kitchen was in need of a counter replacement. I never recommend wooden counters in wet areas, and the moisture problems this creates are visible in the before shots. The customers went with this beautiful Vermont soapstone. They also picked an undermount sink and a touch faucet. I recommend undermount sinks- the counters around them are easily wiped and there are fewer crevices for moisture and mold formation. The bump-out of the existing farm sink looked like an afterthought, as the cabinet style didn’t match the rest of the kitchen. So that cabinet face was removed and the cabinet box cut back to accommodate a shop- produced cabinet front that matches the surrounding elements. It’s very satisfying to complete a job like this: The change merges into the other pieces and you don’t know that anything was done! The drywall behind the range also got a backsplash, and I’m told the customer recently thought of me when it was soiled with pasta sauce and simply wiped off.
